Starting new thread First of all about show times All times in Moscow time RTR shows - 20.20 Saturday (a small part, where two pairs with the least number of points compete, who will stay and who will leave the show) and 18.20 Sunday - the actual show, where all the pairs show their new programs. This Saturday it was Butyrskaia with her partner (Russian rock-musician), who had to leave, and I regret to say that her behaviour throughout the whole show was really nasty Seven pairs left now: Grishuk-Krasilov(series actor), Grebenkina-Lazarev (singer from pop-duet "Smash"), Azarova (model)-Platov, Kazakova-Selin (another series actor), Chashina (gymnast)-Goncharov, Kremer (show moderator)-Dmitriev, Dogileva (actress)-Urmanov. Next one to go will probably be Dogileva-Urmanov - she is nearly 50, and she is experiencing problems with blood pressure - was nearly fainting at today's show and begging judges and tv-voters to let her go. She's a great actress actually and a great person - it was her charisma, not her skating skills that made her stay in the show long enough, but now I think it's really better for her to go. For those who are watching RTR abroad Russia there can be a problem with schedule, for you are most likely watching not normal RTR, but so called RTR-World or smth like this, and the schedule there is different. 1st channel (ORT channel) show - 21.20 Saturday. Totmianina-Pimanov (TV-presenter) are out due to his trauma Promised to be back to the final gala though. Now TV-voters are choosing between two pairs with the lowest marks from judges - it's Berezhnaya-Nosik (actor) and Zaharova (actress)-Bazdyrev (young ice dancer, pupil of Irina Lobacheva). Those who are interested in the actual numbers - try to catch them at fs vids desk - guess you can find them there. If you need some details, feel free to ask. Time difference is 2 hours with Eastern and Central Europe I guess (21.20 at Moscow - 19.20 at yours, from Poland to France), 3 hours with Western Europe (Great Britain etc). I know that Belorussia is only at 1 hour difference though, so you better check it all once more

My short review of Saturday night ORT show First of all, my russian seriously needs some treatment I made my mum an interpreter on this occasion which she was of course very delighted about ( she last spoke russian when she met my father which was quite obviously not some days ago ) Alena, how much do you charge per class? Now seriously. I loved the show straight from the beginning. However, first thing that made me wonder - is the show broadcasted live? It does not look like as if it was but that may be just my wrong impression. I adored Plushy and Ira as the hosts. Plush is such a teaser and his sarcastic sort of humour just blows everyones socks off Ira is very natural and spontaneous, they look gorgeous together. Btw, did she just gain on weight a bit or is she expecting? The one or the other, she still looks the best she has ever had. I was surprised by the judges standpoints at certain stages of the show. I gained the feeling that there were moments of harsh decisions and illogical ones ( I personally felt offended by such a low mark for Anton and Glukosa) OMG and Irina Lobacheva is as blond as a banana I was shocked I suprisingly loved Kostomarov with his partner and was totally unimpressed by Zhulin which made me I did not expect that. Oh, and Maxim was sooo lovely with his girl He seems to be such a right guy. A bit upset about Tana and the withdrawal of her and her partner. They looked quite good in the previous episode. I really do not grasp why Lena and Nosik are so low Any ideas, Alena? Is Nosik that unpopular or is it the connection of these two that disturbs that much? I dont get that. IMO they were very sweet when they opened up the show on Saturday. That tummy To sum up, the show is definitely worth watching. I can totally reccomend. The highest level this competiton can ever reach is in the undisputed mecca of figureskating and that is Russia, my friends

Does it also seemed to you that Ira is expecting? Everyone is wondering about that now At the first show she was wearin a costume really fit for pregnancy, though she keeps silence by now Well, we shall know sooner or later, where the truth is The show is not broadcasted live, the last show, for example, was shot about the middle of last week, but the witnesses say, it was still shot with no recaps - so if somebody fell or made mistakes in skating - nobody reshot that. They only did another takes for our wonderful hosts, who are still learning Oh, yes, and hope you understood that the theme of the last show was national dances. Hey, we are a bit different in our impressions I think that Glukoza-Siharulidze were too high, for what they did was not a lezginka at all. I did not like Guseva- Kostomarov's (oh, the wig!!! ) Zyganochka (gypsy dance) - to me they got the character of the dance wrong, especially her. I strangely liked Navka though, and you know, Nisha, how I "love" her And I actually think that Zhulin with Dapkunaite (actress from Lithuania) were marked too low. My personal favourites so far are Petrova-Butman (jazz composer and musician) and Bolshova(actress)-Tikhonov anyway. Yeah, Marinin looked nice with Kiseleva (synchro-swimmer and TV-presenter - Russian host for the show "The Weakest Link") in this Russian dance- think they deserved better marks. Well, Lena and Nosik are just on a low technical level for now, guess. I think their dance was nice too, but comparing to the others... Though I think they will stay and Zaharova-Bazdyrev will go. Poor girl (mean Zaharova) - she is extremely unlucky with the partner - everyone is skating with champions, while she - with a guy, who seems to me ice dancing worse then herself. Lobacheva-Averbukh are really figure skating mafia in Russia these days My personal tragedy is Yagudin skating with Pushkina. I want to do something bad to Averbukh really (well, it's no news for giving Yagudin such a hopeless partner. Not only it's harder for Yagudin, because he is the only solo skater in this show, but Averbukh gave him the most difficult partner, then put on the most stupid dance with the most ugly cloths... ((( I'm in distress ( Ah, and did I actually tell that Averbukh was already once called in this show "multiple prize-winner at Olympics". Does anyone remember him being multiple Olympics-prize-winner? Next time they'll be saying he's Salt Lake City ice dancing champion, I suppose So, who do I subscribe to the Russian lessons then? If you'll be interested in any particular replics of the skaters or smth - just tell me, I will help understanding

Well she does look very pregnant to me. She had her ups and downs on weight but now she looks..well, baby on its way Oh yes, I understood that all of them were national dances. Oh, how could I forget Petrova and Butman? I luved them. And I loved the number he did by himself as well I was wondring who that Bazdyrov was anyway Thanks for fillin me in. Whose idea was it to sign him in for the competition they could have chosen someone more appropriate and fitting, nah? Or why didnt they pair up the girl with Yagudin then??? I dont get it. Am quite dissapointed about his appearance so far quite honestly. Who is Pushkina anyway? Multiple prize-winner? In bed with pyjamas on The moment he gets called an Olympic champion I will Hm..the thing with your language, let me explain a bit. I came to some knowledge recently and I will make an example. The word for "competition" in your language goes like "sorovnavanje". In Slovak, we have a similar word which goes like "zrovnavanie" and if i go rootish basically it also means "competition" but still we use different notion for competition. Thats why when listening to russian I often get stuck at such details as this one, but when I read the text I apt to understand almost everything. The conclusion - I need to study your vocabulary more. Anyway, I understood mostly everything Zhenya was saying when I was concentrated

About the language - can understand that. Can't remember any exact example from slavic languages, but I remember hearing and reading chezh or bulgarian, where the words were similar to some russian words, but meant some different things But I hope you'll make a progress with watching the shows Pushkina is a TV-presenter, doing a program called "Zhenskij vzgljad" - "A viewpoint of a woman" - a melodramatic styled program with the biographies of different celebrities told. Hated her always, and now - even more Can't imagine who gave the old hag to poor Lesha ( Maybe it's because she is a friend of Irina Rodnina, so could chose the partner using her friend's influence :(He really could have done better with Zaharova or with Dapkunaite, with whom he was to skate originally. I can only respect how he stands against all odds now, for Butyrskaia at RTR show put such a drama, constantly saying that she is a solo skater, so how can she skate with no professional? She was behaving awful indeed, though there're rumours she might be pregnant actually.

I have hear about Butyrskaya fussing about I agree. The reason of it might be she is pregnant but still I feel like this has always been HER What kind of trauma is Glukoza suffering from?

Yes, agree, Butyrskaya was always not one of the most pleasant women around in FS Glukoza has strained some muscles at her leg badly and has to stay off sport for two weeks now, one newspaper article claims so. Shall learn quite soon.

The theme of the upcoming show is songs from the movies. Everyone should take some theme from a famous movie and make a number out of it For what I know, Guseva-Kostomarov are doing "From Dusk till Dawn" Salma Hayek's belly dance and Navka-Basharov - "Moulin Rouge". Looking forward for Navka's costume - said to be very... ehh... revealing!

Yes, I guess those who are out will be announced at the beginning of the show - they will say how sad they are to leave right now, and how good was their overall experience of the show etc. We wave them bye-bye and start a new show - smth like this I suppose. Navka is always looking like Christmas tree on ice, and grinning like Snegurochka (do you have this folklore character, a young girl who accompaines Santa and said to be his granddaughter I wonder?

And whats up with Anton and Glukoza? Stayin or leavin? I once had serious problems recognizing Navka with no make up on I remember I know what u mean We have "Snehulienka" She should seriously think about hirin a stylist. There are times when she looks fabulous and then on the other day she glows like moon in the full.
