It's better if u don't know it, we girls are the biggest victims during easter!!!!!!!! (in Hun.). In easter monday comes the boys (some crooked one early in the morning) and douse u. Yes, that's the situation. Ok now there is two options: 1. You live in the countryside. In this way u are douzed by a bucket water. 2.You live in a city. Here boys douse your head with perfume. (Now imagine when for example 20 different perfume aroma are on your head. Yes... thanks boys.). Some boys douse girls with siphon-bottle as for a wake-up procedure. This must be very pleasant also. In exchange for this we give them painted eggs.
Btw. are offical food at easter are: gammon, eggs, horseraddish, mustard, bread

I second Nena's reaction and question!!! And I'm betting it was a man who invented the tradition...since it is a woman that gets doused

Well.... very serious the explanation: So we (girls) are flowers and we have to be doused to not to wilt.

We unfortunately share the same tradition with Hungary and I guess with the whole region Whoever came up with this tradition must have been insane or out of his mind at least.

We don't have that tradition. Actually some parts (closer to Hungary) may have it, but I haven't heard of it yet. Being doused with a bucket of water does not sound like something I'd want to happen to me.

Last year one guy came with a hose... and his "funny" friend opened the tap... Btw this kinda cruel version happens only when I'm in the countryside at my grandma at Eastertime lol In the city it's just parfume... and then hairwashing... about 10-20 times Hm... random idea: why don't we attack back?

In France, Easter is just a good way for eating chocolate... (IMO!) When I was a child, I often went to my oncle's house, adults hid chocolate eggs, bunnies etc and all children (we were 10-12, with my cousins) had to find them... So for me Easter is just linked with chocolate...
