I heard he was having some tummy problems (gastro-something...can't remember the word) the whole week before euros. I don't think he was sick during the euros but he definitely looked weaker than usual. Maybe somebody has more info on this.[/quote] Actually, he´s been ill for ages this season. Right after Skate Canada, he got some unknown virus that caused strong fatigue, very low blood-pressure and problems with breathing when he was on the ice. He almost collapsed on the practice, so he couldn´t practice almost at all for about three weeks I think. The recovery took a very long time and the first competition he entered after that were the French Nationals in the middle of December. He was still not at 100% there, looked really exhausted at the end of the LP, but he fought very well and won it. After, I ´ve heard, he had some back problems, and as Rasha mentioned, just a week prior to the Euros he got gastroentheritis (sp?), so he was really out of condition since the end of October. Yet, he´s such a fighter....He could have taken the option not to come to Euros. I don´t think many would come in that situation after practically no training. But, that´s just the man he is - THE champion And he won his seventh consecutive medal at the Euros....

By the way, when talking about fighting back after an illness or injury - I have to admire Fabian Bourzat and Maxim Shabalin as well, because they´ve been after a knee surgery and they´ve been back on the ice for only the last two weeks or so before the Euros as well. So a HUGE respect for all the three guys
