Tuesday report!
So the day finally came! Euros in Zagreb and we're gonna be there...weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! To say that we were excited would be an understatement!
First Nena and I went to the train station to pick up Michele and after the meet we headed straight to the rink.
We came just in time to get seated between some russian and french fans, which was really cool since we wanted to cheer both the russian and the french teams on but had no props lol. We got comfortable and waited. Well I waited and the girls went to have the banners approved. In the end they didn't hang them so we'll be holding them in the days to come.
Ice dance was first and I can't tell you how much fun it was to watch CDs. I was afraid that we would have to sit through something classical or *shudder* Roxanne! So yankee polka was great! I'll leave the technical details to someone who actually knows what they're talking about lol. I'll just say that I'll liked it very much and especially enjoyed Isa and Oli's CD with their little wild wild west twist.
Also it was the armenian couple I think(correct me if I'm wrong please!) who fell. It looked serious for a minute (she hurt her back) but she managed to get up and they came back and finished the dance. It was great to feel all the love coming for them from the audience. We all cheered them on. I hope they felt it.
There wasn't a lot of people but the atmosphere was great! And we were probally on tv several times since we were seated smack in the middle of the biggest fan groups. Hope we didn't look too crazy.
After it was done Nena decided she needed nourishment so off we went to find a bakery and put some food in her ( not at all trying to catch glimpses of skaters that stayed in the hotel across the rink ;D) After we went for coffee and then went to watch the opening ceremony. There was more people and it didn't look so empty anymore.
Then it was time for the pairs skating. Right in the first group were our favorites Yuko/Sasha and Aliona/Robin So we were pretty excited and bouncy (or maybe that was just me lol).
Aliona and Robin skated nicely but with him wearing tight white pants it's hard to give you any other details. I'm sure Aliona did great too lol.
Yuko and Sasha were great to watch. They fit perfectly in my opinion and their skating was very fluid. There were a couple of mistakes which cost them the first 3 today I think but all in all they did beautifully.
Another pair that I liked was Tatiana and Stanislav (aka the man who never smiles and can make Tatiana fly!). When we caught the practice on Monday they were practicing very close to where the audience was sitting. Now the seats are about 3, 4 meters higher and when he would throw her I swear there was a couple of times when she could have landed comfortably in the seat above and just take a break lol. They did good on the ice and she was a bit wobbly a couple of times but I think it's cause it takes time to recuperate from being thrown so high in the air!! lol
Of course there was the Croatian team that I have to mention. We were very proud of them (They weren't last weeeeee ).
So that's the short of it. Hopefully someone will fill in my blanks and give you more details. It was great for me and I can't wait for men! (I'm still bouncy and hyper lol.). Nena took pictures so be sure to check those out.
