I didnt use to like watching the ladies event till 2002 when I saw Sasha Cohen for the first time. Before, I was rooting for Maria Butyrskaya, but I wasn't as much as a fan as I am for Marina and Gwendal/Cohen. She's my favourite skater and I really hope she wont retire before giving it another chance. I felt really sorry for her at the Worlds, loosing by Meissner must have been terrible.
Now that she's not competing for this year, i'm rooting for Joannie Rochette. I really like her and I'm slowly but steadily becoming a fan. PLus, she's such a sweet person. I hope she pulls it together and get a world medal this year. She deserves it....
Who do you like?

Sasha Cohen also
In my opinion she is who shows some originality in the ladys's field, and her presentation side is really impressive.
Besides her i like a bit Elena Sokolova, but just coz she seems cute.

To me its Slutskaya. I have never seen a ladies program that moved me so much as her "Wonderland" did. It's her who made me watch ladies skating in fact. Now I do put some hopes in Elene Gedevanishvili as well

Well I have rooted for Sluts too, but after a while I changed my mind and then my new fav was Sasha. But IMO Irina would have deserved that olys gold! Of course Shizuka was perfect in Turin, but I mean Slutskaya's whole skating career, she was better than everyone in some period and she has no olys gold... Not fair IMO...
I also like Sokolova's huge smile and her performance in FD in 2006 Euros, she was amazing in that Romeo&Juliette!

Well....Kwan also dominated for a long time and didnt get olys gold. Skating's not fair. Irina was not ON at the Olys. Her Olys lp performaance was one of the worst of her career. It would have been nice for her to win, but she didnt deliver. Kwan nor Irina didnt deliver in 2002 either-Hughes did. Fair or not, that's sport. The best on the night wins.

Yeah, it's true, and what a sad thing when you're the best for years, and just the olys LP night you have "bad moments". Well I know that it's not just for Slutskaya. More in single skating: you just have to fall once and... what is more you have to jump after it too, and it needs stable mental balance, I do respect the ones who can jump clear jumps after a fall.

I have a high degree of respect for Irina. She always managed to stick to whats her own - elegance on the ice, personal integrity and I also have a huge amount of respect for her as a person. She went through some horrid periods of her life with a constant smile on her face leaving almost no effect on her superb skating qualities. Nowadays, I really root for Elene Gedevanishvili and totally believe in her inner talent and skills. Come on, Elene!

I still think that Slutskaya DID deliever at Salt Lake though, but judges somehow prefered Sarah Hughes ( I agree, she deserved Olympic gold, as Kwan did deserve one as well. For me, their Olympic careers are identical. Both god undeserved silver first time, when it should have been gold (Kwan losing to Lipinsky and Ira to Hughes) and then both got deserved bronze (Kwan at Salt Lake and Ira at Torino). Its such a pity that the peak of Ira's form was previous year - but she got to be 2nd time world champion then, and in her hometown - not bad at all

Now I do put some hopes in Elene Gedevanishvili as well I agree. I only saw her for the first time at Europeans in Lyon but was very impressed. Any lower ranked skater that compels me to pick up my camera and start shooting photos must have 'something'. She reminded me a bit of Sasha. I hope the rumors of her being kicked out of Russia are not true. If so, I hope that she finds another training facility ASAP so she can continue her career.

The same could be said of Michelle Kwan. She may be the most decorated skater (in terms of gold medals) who never won Olympic gold.

Last week I went to Karl Schaefer Memorial in Vienna and had a chance to meet Elene Gedevanishvili personally. Now, I am her greatest fan ever. Not only because her new LP is adorable and spanish but she is a wonderful girl indeed. Very tiny and very littlee but woah what a heck of radiation she posses Could not take my eyes off her. I cannot believe we actually disturbed her a few minutes before it was her turn and she still kept that smile on her face and was willin to take pics with us and signed the autographs...she actually had to find her own article in my IFS magazine, cuz I was not able to find it by myself And yes, she is very pretty and veery down to earth lady. When she finished her program she took a seat next to us. Ok, there was an aisle in between but still Luv her.
