Thanks yet again - just watched it! My, what a unlucky fall there, at Trophee Lalique Yeah, that version was beautiful too (who would doubt that?), but the music is really a bit too obvious, so I'm glad they ended with MSATB

I prefer the MSATB too. And I totally forgot they fell at the end. I'll try to upload NHK version a bit later.

They really caught up quickly, so it did not ruin the dance that much - in fact they fell as if they planned to do it Anyway, very interesting to see this first version of waltz

And what is amazing is that they changed the whole coreography and the music in this quite short time, and mainly the fact that the new waltz is this good, a real masterpiece!!!

Well, it doesn't look planned to me. But it is funny. Not that they fell, but the way he just "went down". And I always catch myself thinking 'Hey! Where did he go?!' Isn't it interesting how those 2 dances are so different? They *feel* different. MSATB is kinda soft, and romantic and just so beautiful. And I'm just not getting that feeling of Masquerade.

Masquarade is more of a passionate drama, while MSATB is a heart-breaking romance turning to tragedy. When remembering the movie where it came from, it's very tragic. In the movie, this music plays when a girl is being wed to an older man she does not love at all, and as she dances, she catches the glimpse of a man, whom she really loves, and tears come to her eyes, and a little boy askes "Why are you crying?", for she should have been happy at her wedding day. Well, and she dies at the end of the movie.

Now, that puts it in a different setting. Now I gotta watch again. ETA: Actually, I'm still gonna think of it as a "happy" dance. Because everytime I see it, I'm always imagining they're dancing in a big ballroom, and there's fog on the floor and it moves as they move and so on.

I always took it differently, because of the movie maybe. And that girl from the movie is not of a best character I should say - she's kinda wild and passionate, and she causes all the drama, making men crazy and making one of them finally shoot her. Movie is based on Anton Chekhov's drama by the way. And to me this always was "and dance, like it's the last night of the world" (c)

That storyline reminds me of another movie about gypsies, Tabor ukhodit v nebo. Okay, but we both agree it's a very pretty dance, no?

I've seen a short clip of the movie "My sweet and tender beast" which include the waltz on YouTube:http://youtube.com/watch?v=q_S7Yc503Oo What impressed me most is the lift that Marina and Gwendal did in their program is much like the dance lift in the same part of the music in this movie. So I start to think maybe they put the story of the movie into the dance. You see,it was such a beautiful and romantic piece of music,as well as the dance M&G put into it. But I always find the expressions on their face mixed with some "sorrow emotion" when they were dancing to it,especially during the slow motion replay. Not all of that sorrowful, but within some extent. Before I got to know the brief story of this movie,I couldn't understand why they were with those expressions. Maybe because many skaters have skated to the same music as well, but very few of them showed the same sorrow. Now I can understand it.
I have searched the movie, and find it has another English name like "The Hunting Matter". I wonder which of Chekhov's novels the movie was based on? I really want to read...
